Who likes Short Shorts?- Episode 1

This is a new section where I review movies that I seen, (MOSTLY in cinema) that I feel deserve a review, but have explained themselves enough through trailers. I'll give a short review with the headings "The good, the Bad, and the Verdict" which are followed by bulletpoints explaining what is good, bad, etc.

Episode 1- Contagion
 Type- Biological Thriller

The Good
  • Well explained virus
  • Interesting set up (Starts at day 2, goes up to, like 265, ends at day 1)
The Bad
  • Basic plot
  • Acting
  • Poorly introduced characters
  • Downplayed deaths
  • Horrible soundtrack
  • VERY cliche (I cant get that e fada thing :( )
And the Verdict
I didn't like it very much, as you can tell. I do not recommend it.
 2/10

No post in 16 days!?

Quickly! I must hastily review all of the games I said I would!

Borderlands:
Borderlands in one of the first first-person shooter/rpg to be released this generation of consoles and graphics cards You play as one of four characters, all of whom have their own perk trees and personalities.
It uses cell-shaded graphics, which, in layman's terms, means "cartoony" graphics. While some would criticise the game for this, I think that this is a welcome change from the gritty, dirty, depressing graphics being forced upon FPS gamers in todays market. (I'm looking at you, Call Of Duty!)
The game takes place on the planet of Pandora (not that one >:( ). It is filled to the brim with skags, bandits, and juicy XP. yum
You've most likely heard of the millions of guns the developers promised to be in the game. Don't be fooled. Very much like todays Video-Games market, you'll never get too-many good guns at once, and at lower levels, You'll be torn to pieces by the most hideous of monsters, only to realise that, at a later level, that they were easy to kill with the new weapon you've acquired. Now, the constant killing of underpowered/leveled creatures gets old. Fast. The game puts in higher-leveled enemies the more you level up, to challenge you and your gun-slinging skills. Unfortunately, there is very little little more than a name and stats change to these enemies.
The story is kind of all over the place. You are a treasure hunter looking to open a mythical vault which contains riches beyond comprehension. Unfortunately, after a drawn out intro, the story is stretched out, making you complete almost every menial side-quest imaginable, in order to advance a smidge in the story, or to afford a gun/shield.
The game offers no difficulty settings, so a (noob) pro like me cannot (lower) raise the difficulty to the (bottom) top of the all-important difficulty slider.
The GOTY (Game Of The Year) edition comes with the four DLC packages that came out. The weakest of the bunch is Claptrap's new robot revolution. While it's no horse armour plug-in, it pales in comparison to the best DLC, which is The Secret Armoury Of General Knox. All of the DLCs are fun, though.
Finally, while I have not had the pleasure of experiencing multiplayer on borderlands, it is apparently great. You may start a duel with a friend, or you can duke it out in the arenas scattered across the frontier. Most of the multiplayer gameplay is CO-OP, though.

In short, borderlands is a fun, different game with a dark sense of humour, which is held back by some bugs, and an ad-lib story.

Chatting with Eamon: Precursor Eggs

So, I was talking with my friend Eamon, when I, as always, bring up the topic of The Chicken or the Egg: which came first?
Eamon thinks that the chicken came first, claiming that a regular bird, evolving over it's lifespan could become the chicken we know and love (to eat) today.
I disagree: I feel that two different species, with traits similar to that of chickens, bred, and produced the chicken (which formed inside the egg: (hence my theory)), the parent species died out, leaving the chicken to breed with other birds, increasing the size of its race, and forming and evolving over the years.
Eamon disagreed, he said that the chicken WAS a normal bird that developed the traits of a chicken (Fat) and was classified as such.
I disagreed again: If someone becomes fat in their own lifespan, so long as it isn't genetics, (the only way this would be relevant) then it was it's own doing, and therefore couldn't be passed on to any further generation, making it a fat bird, and not a chicken.
We then agreed to disagree, and talked about "Epic rap battles of history"
What is your theory? Leave your opinions below!

TY is melting my brain and ruining my.. uh.... imaga- something-or-other

Yes. TY can be fun. Sometimes
Yes. We  Go on trips. Sometimes
Yes. It kills brain cells. Always
I really can't stand the language studies we are forced to do in TY. We don't learn French in French class, we do projects on whatever instead.
We don't do Irish in Irish class, we watch films instead.
We don't even improve our English.. AT ALL
Seriously, we're reading "The Van" by Roddy Doyle. A funny book, yes, but hardly an appropriate book to be reading in English class!
  1. Awful language.
  2. Not at all challenging to one's vocabulary.
  3. (Intentionally) Bad grammar.
In Maths, we're revising 3rd year stuff.
In short, third year was more challenging, enjoyable, and, strangely, less stressful. Projects, are, I'm sure, important for 5th year, but If all we're doing is 3rd year-level stuff, without the tiny-est bit of interest from teachers, and we're expected to meet 5th year standards, then something is seriously wrong.

In my opinion, a school should make this crap black and white, either make an educational year, or make it a doss year.

Astronauts!

The most amazing thing happened to me today. I was given the opportunity to meet an astronaut in the flesh... TOMORROW!!!
I'm really exited and cannot wait to hear about being in space and what its like to be in such a quiet, yet terrifying place
