Chatting with Eamon: Precursor Eggs

So, I was talking with my friend Eamon, when I, as always, bring up the topic of The Chicken or the Egg: which came first?
Eamon thinks that the chicken came first, claiming that a regular bird, evolving over it's lifespan could become the chicken we know and love (to eat) today.
I disagree: I feel that two different species, with traits similar to that of chickens, bred, and produced the chicken (which formed inside the egg: (hence my theory)), the parent species died out, leaving the chicken to breed with other birds, increasing the size of its race, and forming and evolving over the years.
Eamon disagreed, he said that the chicken WAS a normal bird that developed the traits of a chicken (Fat) and was classified as such.
I disagreed again: If someone becomes fat in their own lifespan, so long as it isn't genetics, (the only way this would be relevant) then it was it's own doing, and therefore couldn't be passed on to any further generation, making it a fat bird, and not a chicken.
We then agreed to disagree, and talked about "Epic rap battles of history"

TY is melting my brain and ruining my.. uh.... imaga- something-or-other

Yes. TY can be fun. Sometimes
Yes. We  Go on trips. Sometimes
Yes. It kills brain cells. Always
I really can't stand the language studies we are forced to do in TY. We don't learn French in French class, we do projects on whatever instead.
We don't do Irish in Irish class, we watch films instead.
We don't even improve our English.. AT ALL
Seriously, we're reading "The Van" by Roddy Doyle. A funny book, yes, but hardly an appropriate book to be reading in English class!
  1. Awful language.
  2. Not at all challenging to one's vocabulary.
  3. (Intentionally) Bad grammar.
In Maths, we're revising 3rd year stuff.
In short, third year was more challenging, enjoyable, and, strangely, less stressful. Projects, are, I'm sure, important for 5th year, but If all we're doing is 3rd year-level stuff, without the tiny-est bit of interest from teachers, and we're expected to meet 5th year standards, then something is seriously wrong.

In my opinion, a school should make this crap black and white, either make an educational year, or make it a doss year.

Astronauts!

The most amazing thing happened to me today. I was given the opportunity to meet an astronaut in the flesh... TOMORROW!!!
I'm really exited and cannot wait to hear about being in space and what its like to be in such a quiet, yet terrifying place

Shivering Isles Review

Okay, so a friend of mine requested this review, and I wanted to do a review of this myself.
"Oblivion: Shivering Isles" is an expansion pack for "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion". It takes place in the newly-added lands called the Shivering Isles, which is the residing place of Sheogorath, the Daedric price of Madness. Still with me? Good!

*The Isles are roughly a quarter of Cyrodiil's size, and are full of many new creatures, items, alchemical ingredients, and quests. Over 9,500 new lines of dialogue have been recorded for the multitudes of new NPCs.

The lands are divided into two halves: northern Mania  and southern Dementiaia. Mania is a land full of over-saturated colours, whereas Dementia is a much more depressing realm containing intimidating buildings, ruins and gloomy skies. There are over a dozen new creatures to fight in both realms, including new insects, Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles, Grummites, Gatekeepers, Golden Saints, Knights of Order, Gnarls. In short, theres a lot more stuff that wants you dead.

The main quest involves Sheogorath himself, who seeks a champion to save his realm. He claims that at the end of an era, his lands are destroyed by an otherworldly force known as the "Greymarch". The current era is almost over...* (Taken from UESP Wiki (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page))

Now that the premise has been explained, I'll review the entire package.
The Shivering Isles takes around 15hrs to complete the main quest on the highest difficulty. It, in my opinion, adds much needed depth to the game, the various books and statues scattered around the world flesh out the Isles, making them feel like a living, breathing world. While the pack does add more books, clothes, weapons, and creatures to the game, there are no purchasable homes and only 4 sets of armour to be collected, only two being available from the start, and only one of the remaining two being made available near the end, neither of which suit any male characters. You can, obviously bring these weapons, etc. back to the main game world (Cyrodill), but its slightly disapointing to have wasted such an opportunity. The two different lands feel miles apart, and subtle colour changes make a huge difference to the feel of the world. Brilliant. Mania, as the blurb suggests, is a bright, colourful place, while Dementia is a dark, depressing place. So why would anyone want to play in Dementia? Well, people who play on easier difficulties will not notice, but players who like a challenge and play on hard will find that the various monsters in Mania are incredibly difficult to defeat when compared to the Dementia monsters. This is a very clever trade off, you  give yourself an easier challenge by choosing Dementia, which contains the scarier, yet weaker monsters in the depressing section of the isles, or go into the brighter side of the isles and receive a greater challenge. The quests are fun and original. the first quest given to you is your standard dungeon crawler... until the end, when you are greeted by the custodian of the fort you restored. He tells you that there are people invading the fort. a group of adventurers. you can choose to slay them all, or drive them mad, all with the traps in the fort. This is reward in itself, but you then get a sword belonging to one of the adventurers, including his diary explaining how he found the sword, his obsession with it, and his thoughts on his teammates. As I mentioned earlier, this adds much needed depth to the game, making the quest fun AND memorable. Of course, not everything is perfect. A Bethesda RPG is not a Bethesda RPG without some types of (usually hilarious) glitches and bugs. Mostly we see standard bugs encountered in Oblivion, all the way up to certain game-crashing ones. However, these rarely annoy, and in no way take away from the sometimes disturbed, occasionally hilarious, and always amazing experience of the Shivering Isles.

I'm on blogspot!

Hurray! I'm finally on blogspot!
 I've always wanted a blog!
Ironically, now that I have one, I don't know what to say!

I guess I'd better introduce myself: My names Jack. People call me Caseycakes (don't ask why) I'm a huge fan of videogames, and would like to go into the industry myself, when I'm older. I'm interested in airsoft, and kart racing. I would like to become a popular blogger on blogspot. I prefer the way of posting (Micro)blogs than Twitter's. I will review the games I own and rent, as well as some movies. Now that thats over with, enjoy my blog!
